NEW GREEN STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE GUIDE AVAILABLE- This new guide, funded in part by CWMP fees and funding from William Penn Foundation, is a summary of common green stormwater infrastructure practices for landowners, business and community organizations and municipal staff to learn about effective
stormwater practices that could help municipalities address stormwater problems AND may be eligible in MS4 plans for pollution reductions.

UPCOMING GRANTS:

*       Commonwealth Financing Authority Grants deadline May 31, 2022,

o    Eligible projects These grants provide for the distribution of
unconventional gas well impact fees to counties, municipalities and
commonwealth agencies. The grants support improvements to municipalities'
water systems and for public services and environmental protection projects.
Funding programs include Abandoned Mine Drainage Abatement; Baseline Water
Quality Data; Flood Mitigation; Orphan or Abandoned Well Plugging; Sewage
Facilities; Watershed Restoration and Protection; and Greenways, Trails and
Recreation. (See Transportation Grants section for more on the Greenways,
Trails and Recreation funding program.)

o    Eligible applicants counties, municipalities, nonprofits and
commonwealth agencies.

o    Match typically at least 15% match or more

o    Eligible costs depends on project type

*       PADEP- Growing Greener Plus

*       No date set for deadlines for 2022 grants, anticipated for this
summer

*       Riparian Buffers - many funding opportunities exist to plan, design,
implement and sometimes maintain forested buffers.  See PA DCNR grant listed
below.  Also consider contacting Stroud Water Research, Center White Clay
Wild and Scenic, Chester County Conservation District, Brandywine
Conservancy or Brandywine Red Clay Alliance for potential funding
partnerships.

Lawn Troubles? Think outside the box!   

If your grass looks like most of the turf grass in Chester County, your lawn
is most likely composed of cool season grasses whose roots only extend about
three inches below the soil surface. While cool season grasses are nice to
walk on in bare feet or have a badminton match on, they score very low in
the infiltration and evapotranspiration departments. In other words, rain
water just sits on top of the lawn or quickly runs off. If you would like to
reduce ponding on your property, decrease runoff coming off of your
property, or improve water quality by making changes on your property, you
have options!
