Chester County Health Department Launches New Movement Campaign

Did you know that only 24% of Pennsylvanians participate in any physical activity or exercises that aren’t job related? We want to make this 100%! This is why we are launching our new movement campaign Chesco On The Move. Explore our Chesco On The Move resources for information and inspiration on how to move more. Any and all types of movement benefit our bodies and minds! Our favorite resource of this campaign is the free movement app Chesco Moves with MoveSpring. We invite all Chester County residents to join this movement platform.

We will be hosting a series of challenges throughout the year on MoveSpring. In the app (or desktop browser), you can connect your wearable device or smartphone to automatically track your activity. Compete in fun challenges against other Chester County residents, set new goals for yourself and watch your progress over time. This is an inclusive, free movement platform that counts all sorts of activity, such as yard work, vacuuming, swimming, weightlifting, Tae Kwon Do, etc.

Our bodies were not designed for excessive sitting. We were born to move! Frequent movement benefits our physical and mental health. According to the Healthy Department’s 2022 Community Health Assessment Survey, 60% of respondents reported physical activity as one of the top three behaviors that improve health and wellness in Chester County. We want to encourage residents to move their way to better health with this communal and dynamic resource.

Please join us in our efforts to promote physical activity and wellness in Chester County by sharing this new program with your friends, family and network. This may include utilizing your notification system, newsletter, website, student and staff calendars, all social media channels, news articles, events and digital signage. And of course, we invite you to participate yourself!
